Silver Bream Summer Series, 27 October 2024

Grange Springs

Our first match at Grange Springs was fished on Sunday 27th October. The weather was calm with sunny and cloudy spells.
Winner on the day was Bob Spence with 30lb 3oz of skimmers including a carp of 9lb 9oz. Jack Lewis was second with 18lb 15oz of skimmers and perch from peg 12. Tony Skal was third with a catch of skimmers for 13lb 2oz from peg 2.

Silver Bream Summer Series, 13 October 2024

Tortworth

The match was fished on a cool overcast day, the lake was full after the torrential cold rain on Tuesday. The fishing has slowed down with only a few larger fish caught.
Alan Jenner won the day with 1 large Bream, a Tench and some silvers from peg 15. Roger Stokes was second from peg 18 with 1 Bream and roach, Jack Lewis was third at peg 4 with an all roach catch.

Match vs Alcove AA – Whitehouse Farm

The match against Alcove took place last Sunday on an overcast day. The match was very close, total Alcove weight was 198lb 7oz against 192lb 0oz for Silver Bream. Silver Bream had only 11 participants to Alcoves 12, the average weight per angler were Alcove 16lb 2oz to Silver Bream 17lb 8oz, make of that what you will!
The winner on the day was Peter Turner with 56lb 1oz from peg G17, 4 carp and a mix of F1’s and goldfish. Peter Watkins was second with 45lb 9oz from M16. Dave Starkey was a close third with 45lb 5oz of mainly carp from M4.

Pairs Match Gloucester Canal – Southfield Farm

The Pairs Match was fished on the Gloucester Canal at Southfield Farm on 15th September, an overcast and rainy day.  
Winner on the day was Roger Stokes from peg 6 with 3lb 11oz of  small roach and bream. Andy Gabb was second on peg 1 with 2lb 14oz and  Peter Barnett was third on peg 4 with 2lb 6oz
The Pairs Match was won by Roger Stokes and Dave Starkey.

Silver Bream Summer Series, 1 September 2024

The latest match the Summer Series was fished at Tortworth 1st September, on a calm overcast day.  The day started quietly but the fishing picked up after lunch.
Winner on the day was Roger Stokes from peg 8 with 42lb 11oz with a catch of large bream and smaller silvers. Peter Turner was second on peg 7 with 21lb 2oz, 3 bream and silvers.  Bob Spence was third on peg 23 with 17lb 15oz.

Silver Bream Summer Series, 11 August 2024

The latest match the Summer Series was fished at Popes Gully on 11th August, on a warm sunny day.  The hot weather did not put the fish off with good weights recorded by all anglers.
Winner on the day was new member Nigel Wilson from peg 1 with 46b 7oz. Pete Barnett was second on peg 6 with 38lb 3oz and Roger Stokes was third on peg 11 with 31lb 15oz

Silver Bream Summer Series, 28 July 2024

The latest match the Summer Series was fished at Popes Gully on 28th July, on a warm sunny day with little wind.  The hot weather did not put the fish off with good weights recorded by all anglers.
Winner on the day was Roger Stokes from peg 6 with 34b 12oz. Russ Baker was second on peg 11 with 29lb 15oz and Dick Vizard was third on peg 7 with 24lb 1oz
Andy Gabb was the winner of the evening series, the final series totals will be posted later.

Silver Bream Evening Series, 23 July 2024

The last evening series match for 2024 was fished at Tortworth on 23rd July, on a warm overcast evening with little wind.  Bream or tench were needed to get a better weight.
Winner on the night was Peter Turner from peg 8 with an evening lake record weight of 33b 15oz made up of six bream, a hybrid and a roach. Andy Gabb was second on peg 9 with 17lb 9oz with three large bream with roach and eels. Rod Gabb was third on peg 3 with two large tench and some roach for 10lb 9oz
Andy Gabb was the winner of the evening series, the final series totals will be posted later.

Silver Bream Evening Series, 16 July 2024

The latest evening series match was fished at Tortworth on 16th July, on a warm cloudy and later sunny evening with little wind.  The fishing was good with more roach caught but bream were needed to get into the frame.
Winner on the night was Rod Gabb from peg 8 with an excellent weight of 19b 15oz made up of four bream, the same peg the Andy won from on Sunday. Steve Pearce was second on peg 18 with 13lb 12oz with two large bream and roach. Peter Turner was third on peg 14 with one bream and roach for 9lb 4oz.

Silver Bream Interclub v Alcove, 14 July 2024

The annual friendly interclub match against Alcove AA was fished at Tortworth on 14th July, the weather was bright with a light breeze.  The fishing was patchy as the bright weather seemed to put off the roach and tench as these proved difficult to catch.  Bream were needed to get a good weight but these were generally on the north bank in Section A.
Winner on the day was Andy Gabb from peg 8 with an excellent bag of 32b 8oz that included six bream and smaller silver. Russ Baker  was second on peg 10 with 12lb 2oz with two large bream and roach. Julie Taylor was a close third on peg 7 with two bream and silvers for 11lb 11oz. John Amato also caught an excellent 2lb 3oz perch on peg 9 as part of his 8lb 7oz.
The section winners were;
Section A – Steve Brown 8lb 10oz peg 5
Section B – Steve Pearce 10lb 7oz peg 14
Section C – Peter Turner 6lb 5oz peg 24
Silver Bream claimed the interclub match win with 71lb 15oz vs 41lb 1oz.

Silver Bream Charity Match – Tortworth, 30 June 2024

The Charity Match was fished at Tortworth on 30th June.  There were only 6 anglers present, probably due to a certain football match at the same time!  The weather was calm and overcast and a little cooler after hot weather.
Peter Turner from peg 7 with 12lb 7oz that included 2 bream and roach perch and eels. Roger Stokes was second on peg 5 with 9lb 0oz with one bream and roach. Dick Vizard was third on peg 27 with 7lb 11oz which was primarily one bream and a little roach.
The match raised £45 for charity.

The latest evening series match at Popes Gully was fished on 25th June.
Andy Gabb won again with 18lb 14oz on peg 9. Mark Nutley was a close second for the second match running on peg 11 with 14lb 1oz, third was Roger Stokes on peg 6 with 13lb 14oz.

The latest evening series match at Popes Gully was fished on 18th June.
Andy Gabb won with 26lb 14oz on peg 10. Mark Nutley was a close second on peg 8 with 23lb 7oz, third was Dave Starkey on peg 2 with 20lb 5oz.

The latest evening series match at Popes Gully was fished on 11th June.
Roger Stokes won with 28lb 11oz on peg 9. Rod Gabb was second on peg 6 with 21lb 0oz, beating son Andy Gabb who was third on peg 1 with 18lb 2oz.

Silver Bream Evening Series – Popes Gully, 4 June 2024

The latest evening series match at Popes Gully was fished on 4th June, the weather patchy overcast with a breeze and odd shower.  The fishing at Popes Gully was a little inconsistent with most anglers being unable to get a good run going.
Andy Gabb won with 33lb 9oz on peg 11, winning for the third match in a row at Popes Gully, well done. Alan Jenner was second on peg 6 with 13lb 5oz, Roger Stokes was third on peg 7 with 12lb 7oz.

Silver Bream Summer Series – Tortworth, 2 June 2024

The latest summer series match at Tortworth was held on 2nd June, the weather was warm and sunny.  The warm conditions made fishing tricky with little consistency with bites being patchy.
Alan Jenner won the day on peg 20 with 5lb 14oz, 1 bream and roach. Andy Gabb was second on peg 27 with 5lb 5oz with a bream and a mixed bag.  Jack Lewis was a close third on peg 18 with a mixed bag of 5lb 3oz.

The latest evening series match at Popes Gully was held on 28th May, the weather was overcast with showers.  The lake was coloured and the fishing was a little patchy.
Andy Gabb was the winner for the second match running on peg 4 with 46lb 5oz. Roger Stokes was second on peg 11 with 19lb 12oz, third was Dave Starkey on peg 12 with 14lb 10oz.

The first evening series match of the year at Popes Gully was held on 21th May, the weather was overcast and rain came later.  The lake was coloured and the fishing was a little patchy.
The winner was Andy Gabb on peg 2 with 41lb 13oz. Peter Turner was second on peg 11 with 19lb 1oz, third was Roger Stokes with 10lb 2oz.

Silver Bream Evening Series – Tortworth, 14 May 2024

The second evening series match was held at Tortworth on 14th May, the weather was cool and breezy.
The winner was Roger Stokes on peg 27 with 9lb 12oz, including a tench of 4lb 6oz. Alan Jenner was second on peg 14 with 7lb 0oz, also including a bream of 6lb. Third was Mark Nutley with 5lb 13oz from peg 18, Marks catch included one bream.

Silver Bream Evening Series – Tortworth, 7 May 2024

The first evening series match was held at Tortworth on 7th May in warm calm conditions. One or more of the large bream were needed to frame on the night.
The winner was Dave Starkey on peg 6 with 18lb 2oz, including 2 fine bream. Second was Mark Nutley on peg 8 with 12lb 15oz, also including 2 bream. Third was Dick Vizard with a single bream on 8lb 10oz from peg 5.
Rod Gabb on peg 19 had a fine roach which weighed exactly 2lb, a vey fine fish, well done.

Silver Bream Summer Series – Tortworth, 5 May 2024

The first match in the summer series was fished at Tortworth on Sunday in calm cloudy conditions. The winner on the day was Jack Lewis on peg 9 with 21lb 4oz, he caught 3 bream and roach. Peter Turner was second on peg 20 with 12lb 13oz of 1 bream and quality roach.  Dave Starkey was close behind in third place on peg 19 with 12lb 11oz with 2 bream and roach.
