Silver Bream Winter Series and Aggregate Result

The last match of the club year and winter series held at Harescombe, Meadow Lake on 3rd March. It was a sunny day but a cold day, following two days of heavy frost and snow resulting in hard fishing. Carp were needed to make the frame.
Winner on the day was Dave Starkey on corner peg 4 landing 6 carp and silvers for 27lb11oz.  Roger Stokes was second from peg 10 with 16lb 11oz consisting of two carp and silvers, Dick Vizard was third with 10lb 2oz of carp and silvers. Russ Baker was fourth and the highest of those not fortunate to catch a carp was Russ Baker with 3lb 5oz of roach from peg 7.

 

 

The Winter Series was won by Russ Baker with a points 108 points closely followed by Steve Pierce with 100 points and Dick Vizard with 98 points.  The top ten of the series are listed below;

Silver Bream Winter Series

The latest Winter Series match was fished at the Popes Gully on 18 Febuary.  The heavy rain the day before made accessing the lake interesting, the lane under the railway bridge was flooded a couple made it across, but the majority took the alternative route which was a bit hairy! It was a blustery day and the water was coloured.

First place went to Roger Stokes with 22lb 15oz from peg 8, Dick Vizard was second with 16lb 3oz from peg 7 and third was Steve Pierce with 13lb13oz from peg 9.

The latest Winter Series match was fished at the Popes Gully on 4 Febuary.  It was a blustery dry day after a few days of rain the water was coloured.

Roger Stokes was the winner on the day by some distance on peg 2 with an excellent weight of 45lb 5oz. Russ Baker was second on peg 1 with 20lb 8oz, Steve Pearce was third on peg 7 with 19lb 10oz.

The latest Winter Series match was fished at the Top Lake at Harescombe on 7 January.  It was a very cold dry day after a few days of rain that made the fishing tough.

Dick Vizard was the winner on the day on corner peg 4 with 5 carp for 28lb 8oz. Andy Gabb was second on peg 13 with 18lb 13oz with a mixed bag of a few carp and silvers, Russ Baker was third on peg 2 with 13lb 13oz that included a carp of 12lb 2oz backed up with silvers.   

 

Silver Bream Summer Series

The Christmas Match was fished at the Match Lake at Harescombe 3 December.  It was a cold winter day with rain for most of the day.  The lake fished vary hard as it had been cold for the last few days.

Tony Skal was the winner on the day on peg 5 with a weight of 18lb 1oz. Pete Barnett was second on peg 1 with 13lb 2oz, Tony Cook was third on peg 11 with 10lb 0oz and Dick Vizard was fourth on peg 15 with 9lb 9oz.  The sections were won by Section A Jack Leis peg 2 4lb 6oz, Section B Dave Rugman peg 8 12oz, Section C Nigel Hopkins peg 13 8lb 13oz and Section D Martin Pearce peg 23 4lb 0oz.

The latest match of the Winter Series was fished at Tortworth on 19 October.  It was a cool winter day with blustery winds.

Alan Jenner was the winner on the day on peg 25 with a weight of 16lb 11oz with 2 large bream and a large perch. Dave Starkey was second on peg 17 with 11lb 2oz with two bream and bits, Jack Lewis was third on peg 6 just an ounce behind with 2 bream for 11lb 1oz.  The weights were very good for the time of year with a number of larger bream feeding.

The last match of the Summer Series was fished at Match Lake, Harescombe on 29 October.  The temperature had dropped by about 10 degrees and there had been a lot of cold rain recently so expectations were not high.

Russ Baker was the winner on the day on peg 13 with a weight of 21lb 3oz, very good in the circumstances. Roger Stokes was second on peg 12 with 16lb 1oz, and Dave Starkey was third on peg 6 with 14lb 9oz.

The return match against Alcove fished at Whitehouse Farm on 2 October.  The weather on the day was reasonable and some decent weights were recorded.

Russ Baker was the winner on the day peg M13 with a weight of 30lb 7oz that included 5 carp. Roger Stokes on peg G5 was a forth with 22lb 15oz, and Alan Jenner was fifth on peg G19 with 20lb 9oz.

The annual Gloucester Canal match in the Sumer Series was fished at the Stroud AA Hempstead water on 17 September.  The weather did not help as a lot of rain preceded the match making the canal very coloured.

Winner on the day was Roger Stokes on peg 45 with a weight of 3lb 1oz. Steve Pearce on peg 39 was a second with 2lb 15oz, Russ Baker was third on peg 23 with 2lb 0oz.

The latest match in the Sumer Series was fished at Tortworth on 3 September. 

Winner on the day was Ted Hobbs on peg 6 with a weight of 5lb 15oz with a silverfish catch on the pole. Russ Baker on peg 9 was a very close second with 5lb 14oz, Peter Turner was third on peg 15 with 5lb 8oz.  The day was dominated by small roach and perch with the odd skimmer.

The latest match in the Sumer Series was fished at Popes Gully on 30 July, on a windy rain lashed day, however the the weights were good given the conditions. 

Winner on the day was club stalwart Dick Vizard on peg 3 with a weight of 37lb 6oz making the most of a decent draw. Steve Pearce on peg 2 was second with 32lb 0oz, Russ Baker was third on peg 11 with 30lb 8oz.

The last match in the Evening Series was fished at Tortworth on 25 July, in overcast conditions, the weights were well down on previous matches this season. 

Winner on the night was Dave Starkey on peg 19 with a weight of 4lb 5oz that included one bream and bits. Roger Stokes on the next peg 18 was second with 3lb 4oz, all silvers. Russ Baker was third on peg 15 a single bream for 7lb 1oz.  Bob Bishop was fourth on peg 7 with an all silvers catch of 1lb 5oz.

The latest Evening Series match was fished at Tortworth on 18 July, in overcast conditions. 

Winner on the night was Dave Starkey on peg 16 with a weight of 14lb 5oz that included three bream a large eel and bits. Nigel Hopkins on peg 26 was second with 10lb 3oz for 3tench. Dick Vizard was third on peg 15 a single bream for 7lb 1oz.  Bob Bishop was fourth on peg 20 with 2lb 12oz of roach, including a roach of 1lb 4oz.

   

Silver Bream Summer Series vs Alcove AA

The annual home match against Alcove AA was fished at Tortworth on 16 July, in windy blustery conditions. despite the weather conditions a good days fishing was enjoyed by both sides with Alcove winning by 46lb 8oz to 44lb 4oz.

The individual winner was Andy Gabb on peg 17 with a weight of 16lb 10oz that included three bream and silvers. Dave Manning on peg 26 was second with 14lb 10oz that included a bream of 7lb 1oz. Steve Dawson was third on peg 8 with an excellent bag of roach for 10lb 0oz.

   

Silver Bream Evening Series

The latest Evening Series match was fished at Tortworth on the evening of 4 July, the weather was warm and overcast. The winner on the night was Alan Jenner on peg 7 with a weight of 14lb 7oz made up of two bream and roach. Andy Gabb on peg 21 was second with 8lb 7oz that included one bream and roach, Dick Vizard was third on peg 24 with 5lb 14oz, a single tench.

The Evening Series was back at Tortworth on the evening of 4 July, the weather was windy and rainy. The winner on the night was Dave Long on peg 26 with a weight of 7lb 0oz including one large bream. Dick Vizard on peg 17 was second with 4lb 15oz that also included a large bream and Russ Baker was third on peg 8 with 1lb 12oz, mainly roach.

   

Silver Bream Summer Series

The Charity Match was fished at Tortworth on the evening 2 July, the weather was overcast and a little breezy. The winner on the night was Roger Stokes on peg 21 with a mixed bag of 6lb 6oz. Dave Starkey on peg 6 was second with 4lb 10oz and Bob Bishop was close behind in third on peg 9 with 4lb 5oz.

The match raised £54.00 from match fees and donations.

   

Silver Bream Evening Series

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully on 27 June, the weather was overcast and cooler and this resulted in an improvement of the weights in the match. The winner on the night was Andy Gabb on peg 7 with 33lb 9oz with most fish coming late in the match. Bob Spence on peg 11 was second with 24lb 14oz and Roger Stokes was third on peg 6 with 21lb 13oz.

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully on 20 June. The winner on the night was Roger Stokes on peg 3 with 17lb 8oz. Dave Starkey on peg 9 was second with 15lb 3oz and Mark Nutley was third on peg 5 with 14lb 12oz that included a carp of 6lb 5oz, the best for Popes Gully this season.

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully on 13 June. The winner on the night was Andy Gabb on peg 10 with 22lb 10oz. Roger Stokes on the next peg 9 was a close second with 22lb 3oz just 7oz behand. Dave Starkey was third on peg with 21lb 13oz making it a tight match with the top three being covered by less than a pound..

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully on 6 June. The winner on the day was Roger Stokes on peg 8 with 17lb 8oz. Dave Starkey on peg 12 was second with 15lb 15oz closely followed by Andy Gabb in third place on peg 11 with 15lb 6oz.

The latest match in the summer series was fished at Tortworth on Sunday in clear sunny conditions. The winner on the day was Steve Pearce on peg 18 on the dam wall. Alan Jenner in the next peg, 17 was second with 7lb 10oz and Russ Baker was third on peg 16 with 5lb 6oz.  All of the framers were in adjacent pegs!

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully on Tuesday Evening. Winner on the night was Alan Jenner on peg 9 who weighed 18lb 3oz, Bob Spence was second with 17lb 8oz from peg 6 and Rob Gabb was third on peg 3 with 14lb 14oz,

The latest match in the evening series was fished at Popes Gully. Winner on the night was Dave Long on peg 11 who weighed 25lb 10oz, all taken on the feeder. Steve Pearce was second with 21lb 6oz from peg 2 and Andy Gabb was third on peg 9 with 18lb 7oz,  Dick Vizard caught a carp of 7lb 4 oz carp, the largest fish in a match to date this year.


Silver Bream Evening Series

The second Evening Series match was fished at Tortworth last night, the big fish went on strike resulting in 5 dry nets from the 11 anglers present, top weight went to Russ Baker, with 2 bream for 9lb3oz, 2nd was Alan Jenner with 6lb 4 oz and third was Roger Stokes with 1lb 8 oz.it seems the new fish are starting to wise up and are more cautious on what they pick up to eat, next Tuesday we are at Popes Gulley in this series..

The first match of the Evening Series took place at Tortworth on Tuesday 9 May.  The newly stocked fish seemed to be feeding as weights have increased. The winner on the night was Dave Starkey on peg 5 with 27lb 11oz consisting of 4 bream and a few bits.  Steve Pearce on peg 20 was second with 23lb 7oz made up of bream and a few bits, Alan Jenner was third with 19lb 4oz comprising 2 bream and a few bits from peg 20.

The winner on the day was Tony Skal on peg 20 with 8lb 5oz consisting of 1 bream and a few bits.  Pete Barnett on peg 18 was second with 7lb 9oz made up of 1 bream and a few bits, Dave Long was third with 7lb 6oz comprising 2 tench from peg 3.
